Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs

What attracted you to Syracuse University?
I always knew I wanted to attend a school with national recognition, competitive sports, and opportunities to grow as an individual. Ultimately, the ability to pursue majors at both the Maxwell school and Newhouse school made it clear that Syracuse was the right school for me. It’s hard to put it into words, but Syracuse aligned perfectly with what I pictured college to be: a beautiful, historic campus, intense school spirit, competitive academics and support from your peers and administration.

What organizations are you involved with on-campus that you are really passionate about and why?
I am the captain of the women’s club ice hockey team, I work in the Policy Studies Department and I volunteer through the Office of Engagement Programs. Being a part of the club hockey team has allowed me to play the sport that I love while gaining invaluable experiences and skills as a leadership that I could not get elsewhere. I became involved with the Policy Studies Department because I truly believe it offers academic and professional opportunities that no other program on campus does, and I wanted to provide support so that both students and the Department can thrive. I volunteer with numerous programs through the Office of Engagement Programs, but I truly believe no matter what activity I am involved in, it is imperative to give back to the Syracuse community.

What motivates you to give back to Syracuse?
My time at Syracuse was made possible by philanthropic support from donors. I recognize attending this school is a great privilege, and I believe finances should not limit anyone from accessing the same unique experiences and opportunities that I had.

Why do you think alumni should support SU?
Simply put, alumni should support SU because it helps increase the value of their degree. When students and professors perform better, it brings national attention and prestige to the Syracuse University name, which benefits alumni as well. Being a part of the Orange family, we should all want to support and encourage each other to be our best and exceed in our respective fields.
