School of Information Studies (iSchool)

What attracted you to Syracuse University?
I always knew I wanted to attend a University that was far from home. Intially, I was attracted to their excellent communications program at Newhouse. Shortly after, I fell in love with the iSchool and realized I could pursue both of my majors in Public Relations and Information Technology. Syracuse University has a little bit of everything, the amount of options and passions that you can pursue here are limitless.

What organizations are you involved with on-campus that you are really passionate about and why?
I am involved in Girls Who Code where I volunteer weekly through the Office of Engagement Programs. I think it's so important to give back your time into the Syracuse community and I encourage more students to do so.

How has your time at Syracuse shaped you?
Syracuse has shaped me into a more confident and aware individual. This university has allowed me to pursue all of my interests as well as expose me to so many unique perspectives from across the country and around the world. I am so proud of the person who I have become.

What motivates you to give back to Syracuse?
I wouldn't have been able to attend Syracuse without scholarships such as the Phanstiel Scholarship. I am grateful to receive direct support from donors and I strongly believe in everyone having the opportunity to attend their dream school. The experiences I've had at Syracuse I wouldn't have been able to have anywhere else and I've made friendships that will last a lifetime.

What has been your favorite Syracuse experience so far?
I've had so many special moments at Syracuse. From my first iSchool road trip in NYC to studying abroad in Florence, Italy. Syracuse has great opportunities to learn experientially. I even was able to host the VP of Communications at Google as a Center for Social Commerce Ambassador. I also enjoyed working as an undergraduate TA in the iSchool and working at ITS as a content specialist.

Why are you proud to be a part of the Orange family?
I am proud to be a part of the Orange Family because I'm a part of a community that cares. A factor in me choosing Syracuse was the pride and love that people have for this school. Syracuse Alumni support each other in so many different ways across the globe and I've been able to see it. I've already made strong connections through this University and I can't wait to see where else the Orange connection takes me.
