Starting this fall, SU students will be able to take a course in giving back. Led by the Maxwell School’s Department of Public Affairs, PAF 410: Philanthropy and You will be taught in conjunction with the Central New York Community Foundation, and will enable students to learn the ethics and values of charitable giving in their own lives and in their community.
After an overview of community needs and a survey of Central New York’s nonprofit organizations, the class will solicit grant applications from qualified charities and then grapple with the choice of which ones to fund. The money the students give away will be provided by SU alumni who care as much about Syracuse, and the value of philanthropy, as they do about Syracuse University. To participate, contact Lisa Honan at 315.443.5056 or email@example.com.
