Philanthropy Week 2013
This year’s Philanthropy Week, April 15-19, featured a series of events celebrating the vital role philanthropy plays, especially on the SU campus.
Events included the second annual Phanstiel Lecture, in which speaker Howie Phanstiel ’70, G’71 related his personal journey of discovery and belief that giving to others is the key to lifelong happiness; the presentation of the Orange Circle Awards to members of the SU community who are doing great things for others; and Thank-a-Donor Day. In addition, a celebratory luncheon brought scholarship donors together with their scholarship recipients.
Class of 2013 Donor Appreciation Event
On April 17, during SU’s Philanthropy Week 2013, seniors who had made their gifts to the 2013 Senior Class Giving campaign were treated to a special event at Club 4.4, the exclusive VIP lounge at the Carrier Dome. Donors enjoyed refreshments and thanks for supporting SU. See the complete gallery.
Campus Campaign Celebration
When The Campaign for Syracuse University exceeded its $1 billion goal more than three months early, it was cause for celebration. We started with a week of mysterious messages asking “what is it?” Then on September 13, 2012, an event on the Quad announced the new total, along with the establishment of the Fisher Center, an exciting expansion of SU’s New York City campus.
Pathfinder Luncheon at Syracuse Stage
On April 29, 2012, Syracuse University Pathfinders were honored guests at an appreciation luncheon in the Syracuse Stage atrium. After lunch, they enjoyed a performance of Shakespeare’s As You Like It. Pathfinders are special individuals who have included SU in their estate plans. These insightful leaders guide the way for future generations of students through thoughtful planned giving.
