Programs and Research
At Syracuse University, we believe that understanding the complexity of the world demands multiple perspectives. So we build bridges between academic disciplines and test our ideas in the marketplace—locally, nationally, and globally. We collaborate across academic silos to expose our students to a wider breadth of knowledge that opens their eyes to the interconnectedness of all human endeavors.
It takes more than bold ideas, however, to have a positive impact on communities. It takes commitment and the intellectual freedom to explore innovative solutions that can change lives for the better.
Syracuse University seeks to raise funds to advance interdisciplinary teaching, research, and community engagement initiatives, particularly in the areas of technology and science, social policy, community and economic development, the humanities, communications, and the arts.
Unlimited Possibilities for Support
You can make a gift in support of an existing program, or you can partner with us to create a curriculum or initiative that’s innovative in its approach. Such was the case with the Bandier Program for Music and the Entertainment Industries.
Martin Bandier ’62, chairman and CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, realized that there was a need for graduates versed in the business end of the music and entertainment industries. So he worked with SU’s College of Visual and Performing Arts to create the only executive-track program in the discipline without a performance requirement.
This 128-credit curriculum is as rigorous as it is unique. In addition to coursework in VPA, the Bandier Program requires classes in SU’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Students also have weekly contact with industry professionals, hands-on learning opportunities, and the opportunity to study abroad in London.
This is but one example of a cross connection created by a gift to SU. The possibilities are virtually unlimited.
